|
|
I have a 2002 HD Sportster 1200, which came with a rigid-mount engine, and then I have 6" risers on my drag bars. The vibration at the handle bars has caused my stock speedo and tach gauge mount to break at its poorly designed mounting tabs, both the original and now the replacement brackets. Rather than buy another $120 gauge mount (fool me twice...) it makes much more sense to go with a digital gauge like this. Then, seeing its additional features such as fuel gauge and 1/4 mile datalogging, I'm pretty sure this is a perfect fit for my application, to totally replace my existing gauges (which looked ugly protruding from the top of my drag bars anyways).
My concern is that, if I have enough vibration in my handlebars that it cracks the gauge mounts, is there any hope of being able to mount this Veypor to the handlebars? It would not be using the old gauge mounts, but instead mount on the bar clamp like pictured several places on the website. The internal accellerometers are probably doomed, is my fear. I hope I don't have to mount it to the gas tank, but I'm prepared to. I have access to machine tools, so making a custom mount isn't a big deal. Does anyone have experience with how much vibration these can tolerate before it starts messing up all the readings?
Another question, is for putting it on an SAE Mini Baja, it would be hugely beneficial if I could datalog what the gear ratio of the CVT is doing. To be able to do graphs of ratio VS rpm, and ratio vs groundspeed, would help a ton in getting it tuned in right.
Also, on the Harley, since this would be replacing my original gauges, would there be a permanent odometer function? I would want to keep it legit from the 13k miles already on it, whether I can input that with my computer, or if, to prevent fraud, I have to send a digital photo of my odometer readout, to have the company software guys set it, and send me a set of firmware with that odometer value in it. |

Hmm... nobody around... oh well.
I ordered a replacement gauge mount bracket so I can keep using my existing setup. While it looked like this forum could offer great help along the way with installing, setting up, and making use of a VR2, it looks like there's just not really anybody ever on here, so either there's not many people using these, or it's no longer in production, or something. Oh well. |

Hi,
Sorry for the delay, we missed a few posts recently as our autonotifier died on us.
The Veypor is fine with vibration when mounted using the included RAM mount as it has rubber to insulate from vibrations. However, you are right, the accelerometers accuracy will be affected. |
